On this World Physiotherapy Day, Physio Camps Conducted for Truck Drivers under CSR

World Physiotherapy Day

On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, HDB Financial Services (HDBFS), India’s top NBFC, recognizes truck drivers’ hard work and dedication by hosting free physiotherapy camps for the community. The camps are part of HDB’s flagship CSR program, Transport Aarogyam Kendra (TAK).

HDBFS is conducting free physiotherapy sessions particularly for truck drivers at 35 major transport nagars across 14 states with the goal of improving their physical well-being, encouraging flexibility, strengthening core muscles, and minimizing ailments caused by prolonged sitting.

The camps are held in partnership with carriers, industry associations, and non-governmental organizations, with a focus on truck drivers’ well-being. Therapists provide advice on ergonomic sitting, stretches, and exercises, as well as raise health awareness and advocate for rest periods. Truckers are treated with specialized equipment and urged to return for follow-up appointments.

Ajay Thakur, Head Asset Finance HDB Financial Services, commented on the initiative, saying, “World Physiotherapy Day recognizes the critical role that physiotherapy plays in ensuring the well-being of individuals, particularly those in physically demanding occupations like truck driving.” Transport Aarogyam Kendra is a one-of-a-kind CSR program that promotes and supports the health and well-being of our highway heroes.  Given the enormous reaction from the trucking community, HDB will continue its efforts in the coming years to reach out to many more truck drivers and collectively take strides toward a healthier and more enjoyable journey on the road.”

The Transport Aarogyam Kendra (TAK Centers) are the first-of-their-kind static clinics in India, providing full-time professional physiotherapy counselling and treatment to the trucking community. Since then, HDB has established fully-equipped Transport Aarogyam Kendras in major transport hubs in Delhi, Ranchi, Kalamboli, Namakkal, and Ludhiana, as well as conducted various diagnostic physiocamps around India.

Through TAK, HDBFS has reached out to nearly 70,000 truck drivers, enhancing their quality of life.
