vivo India: Empowering Transformation Through CSR Initiatives in Education, Technology, and Innovation

vivo India

vivo India strongly believes in the transforming power of technology and experiences to construct a joyful world. This basic core, defined by the brand purpose ‘Live the Joy,’ extends beyond their product offerings and user community, resonating strongly throughout their CSR endeavors.

The organization is dedicated to developing and empowering our nation’s young via their mission, vivo for education and innovation. The company’s goal is to provide dynamic platforms that enable them to thrive and turn their dreams into tangible realities.

vivo’s concentrated efforts in education and innovation are the consequence of a two-pronged approach. To begin, an in-depth examination of CSR expenditure trends highlights the compelling need to prioritize education, which is a cornerstone of progress. Second, they naturally leverage their core skills to spearhead technological innovation, ultimately generating positive impact across society, building on our identity as a technology-driven enterprise.

These projects are deeply rooted in their dedication to addressing the critical objectives of SDGs 4 and 10. They are associated with the worldwide aim to build a more equal and educated society by trying to provide Quality Education and reduce societal disparities.

The promotion of STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) across the country is a key component of the organization’s CSR approach. The flagship program known as the ‘vivo Ignite Technology & Innovation Awards’ exemplifies this devotion. This program, aimed at students in grades 8 through 12, provides a platform for young and bright minds to display their original ideas and projects in a variety of scientific and technological areas. Notably, these programs address urgent concerns common in emerging countries such as India. The top ten national winners received monetary rewards totaling INR 2.5 million. Building on this accomplishment, the next vivo Ignite 2.0, set to launch in 2023, promises to vastly expand its reach and impact.

In addition, vivo is the driving force behind another critical effort known as ‘vivo For Education’. This effort is aimed to offering scholarships to students from low-income families, allowing them to pursue both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. vivo awarded scholarships worth INR 25 million to over 600 students across India through a successful collaboration with Vidhyasaarathi, a technology-enabled scholarship portal powered by Protean eGov Technologies Limited (previously NSDL e-Governance infrastructure limited). The scholarship site facilitates access to corporate-funded financial help for impoverished students, so contributing to the country’s educational financing deficit.

The journey of vivo in India began in 2014, and its CSR activities were heightened following the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The corporation contributed to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s relief fund and provided necessary goods like as masks, PPE kits, sanitizers, and oxygen concentrators. Furthermore, the group played a critical role in enabling digital access for women and children during the crisis, thereby assisting communities in their fight against the pandemic.
