Vitesco Technologies inks UN CEO Water Mandate for Water Management

In Hyderabad, Andreas Wolf, CEO of Vitesco Technologies, signed the CEO Water Mandate as one of the first industry representatives from the automotive supplier sector. The effort, which falls under the United Nations Global Compact, is backed by business leaders from all around the world and aims to create long-term solutions to the impending global water issue.

In addition to having locations in water-stressed regions, particularly in Mexico and the USA, Vitesco Technology, a top global provider of contemporary powertrain technologies and electric mobility solutions, is conscious of its special obligation.

As part of its environmental strategy, it strives to continuously improve its sustainability, also with regard to water as a resource.

According to Andreas Wolf, CEO of Vitesco Technologies, “As a member of the CEO Water Mandate, we aim to constantly discuss best practice solutions and current opportunities and concerns in the area of water management with other firms.” We are concentrating primarily on areas of the world where water is getting more and more limited with our risk-based strategy.

Vitesco Technologies

Vitesco Technologies is largely pursuing efficiency projects that concentrate on preventing water waste and making various uses of the resource in order to achieve this. For instance, the Juarez (Mexico) facility intends to carry out a total of 30 efficiency initiatives between 2021 and 2024. These encompass everything from conserving water for hygienic uses to using condensate and rainwater for irrigation and toilet flushing.

Condensate water from air conditioning and ventilation systems in Seguin, Texas, will be sent to cooling towers starting in 2022. The business also intends to gather rainfall and utilise cooling tower sludge water as grey water for sanitary facilities.

The most recent risk assessment instruments from the World Resources Institute are continuously and routinely evaluated across all Vitesco Technologies sites. The CEO Water Mandate offers helpful direction for the corresponding public reporting on water risks, repercussions, and activities. Member companies occasionally take on the responsibility of measuring and observing operational water performance. They establish clear objectives and plans for the management of the company’s water resources, encourage effective water usage, and evaluate the risks and consequences on the individual river basins and their value chains. The programme gives a list of all participating businesses at: Companies Endorsing the CEO Water Mandate.
