Virtusa Foundation – World Environment Day 2022

As a global provider of digital business strategy, digital engineering, and information technology (IT) services and solutions, Virtusa Corporation’s CSR arm, Virtusa Foundation, celebrated World Environment Day in 2022 with the goal of promoting environmental sustainability.
In order to carry out CSR activities in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai, the Virtusa Foundation organised numerous events and worked with the United Way of Hyderabad, Rotary RMV Welfare Foundation of Bengaluru, and the Environmentalist Foundation of India. This gave Virtusa employees the chance to volunteer, take part, and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
Environment protection is a subject that is very important to us as a company, said Mr. Sundararajan Narayanan, Chief People Officer & Executive Vice President, Virtusa Foundation, in his remarks at the event. It makes me happy to see team members work together and give of their time and energy to improve the planet for coming generations. We work as a team to launch additional projects like this that will have a beneficial impact on the environment since, as they say, tiny actions go a long way.

In keeping with Virtusa Foundation’s environmental sustainability initiatives, over 200 team members and their families came together in greater numbers and with great fervour to make a positive impact on the environment by participating in a variety of events and places.

Following are a few of them:

Drive to plant trees in Hyderabad’s Ranglal Kunta Lake (which has been adopted as part of the Wake the Lake programme).
50 seedlings were planted by 36 volunteers. By increasing the amount of greenery around the lake, this will improve biodiversity, create a habitat for wildlife like birds and butterflies, and provide nearby towns with a green and clean recreational area.
54 volunteers planted 50 seedlings as part of a tree planting initiative at the Kommasandra Village and Rotary Bengaluru HSR Sundhara Vana. By capturing rainwater, saving water, preventing water pollution and soil erosion, providing clean air and oxygen, conserving energy, and assisting in drought mitigation, this action will help combat climate change.
At Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai, there is a coastal cleanup and marine conservation effort.
In order to keep the beach plastic and trash-free, which will help it draw tourists and maintain hygiene, more than 50 volunteers helped spread the word about the need of protecting marine ecosystem.
