The total amount of coal production in April was 661.54 million tonnes

Coal production in April – India produced 661.54 lakh tonnes of coal in April 2022, according to official figures. Last month, while Coal India Ltd (CIL) and its subsidiaries produced 534.7 lakh tonnes of coal, Singareni Colleries Company Ltd (SCCL) produced 53.23 lakh tonnes, and captive mine production reached 73.61 lakh tonnes. 
 
According to the Ministry of Coal’s provisional statistics, while the coal sector’s total offtake was 708.68 lakh tonnes in April, the power sector’s total offtake was 617.2 lakh tonnes. At the same time, Coal India alone supplied 497.39 lakh tonnes of coal to the power sector. 
 
In April of this year, Coal India produced the most coal, with 534.7 lakh tonnes, representing a 6.02 percent increase. The previous high-water mark was set in April of this year, with an output of 450.29 million tonnes. Similarly, in April, coal offtake reached 570.55 million tonnes. The previous record for coal consumption was 540.12 lakh tonnes in April 2021.

Coal production in April

The total coal production in the financial year 2021-22 was 7770.23 lakh Tons (provisional), up 8.55 percent from 7160 lakh Tons in the previous year. The production of Coal India Ltd (CIL) increased by 4.43 percent from 5960.24 lakh tonnes in fiscal 2020-21 to 6220.64 lakh tonnes in fiscal 2021-22. 
 
Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) produced 650.02 lakh tonnes in 2021-22, up from 500.58 lakh tonnes the previous year, a 28.55 percent increase. Captive mines’ coal production increased to 890.57 lakh tonnes in 2018, but only 690.18 lakh tonnes in 2020-21. 
 
Total coal dispatch in 2021-22 was 8180.04 lakh tonnes, up from 6900.71 lakh tonnes the previous year, representing an increase of 18.43 percent. CIL shipped 6610.85 lakh tonnes of coal during the period, compared to 5730.80 lakh tonnes in 2020-21.
