Sh. Vishnoi went on to say that Tehri PSP is planned to create 1000 MW of peaking power to improve system dependability and to offer balancing load to thermal and renewable output during off-peak hours. Tehri and Koteshwar Dam reservoirs would serve as upstream and downstream reservoirs for the Pump Storage Plant. This plant will significantly contribute to stability by meeting Peak Load and balancing requirements.
