Tata Steel Meramandali celebrated International Women’s Day
Tata Steel Meramandali – On March 8, 2022, Tata Steel Meramandali in Odisha’s Dhenkanal District commemorated International Women’s Day. To commemorate the anniversary, the company’s CSR department held a function in Nuagaon village near the facility, where women achievers from adjacent communities were honoured.
On this occasion, Madhusmita Bishi, Assistant Collector, Angul, graced the programme as the principal guest and congratulated women achievers. Dr Ambika Nanda, Head, CSR, Tata Steel Odisha, Dibyahas Ray, Head, CSR, Tata Steel Meramandali, Dr Atmaja Patnaik, Senior Registrar, Tata Steel Medical Services, and Ashutosh Das, Senior Manager, Tata Steel were among the participants.
Bindu Sagarkaran was recognized for her vegetable farming and supply business, Pushpalata Sahoo for her liquid dishwashing business, and Sumitra Bhoi for her stationary shop. Similarly, two women entrepreneurs from villages in Banarpal block of Angul district, Odapada and Hindol blocks of Dhenkanal district, Maa Annapurna for phynle manufacture and Maa Banadevi for pisciculture, were honored for defying stereotypes by venturing into such businesses.

The session was attended by members of the Gruhalaxmi Cooperative, one of the largest cooperatives in the region, with 1435 members and backing from Tata Steel Meramandali. Gruhalaxmi cooperative promotes a variety of businesses, including mushroom production, incense production, phenyl production, mask production, grocery store management, garment production, chicken production, vegetable vending, and tailoring.
Similarly, within the factory, the occasion was commemorated in several departments in the presence of female employees in order to recognize their contributions and inspire them to work harder in the future.
