Sunpower Renewables CSR program to empower women by providing solar-powered electricity

Sunpower Renewables CSR program

Sunpower Renewables CSR program aims to empower women in over 100 villages

Sunpower Renewables CSR program – Around 30% of homes are projected to be in energy poverty, limiting a woman’s access to education and economic prospects while also exposing her to health hazards due to a lack of clean cooking options and pollution from burning wood, coal, or charcoal for cooking and heating. This is a major concern, and the United Nations has made it a priority as part of their Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sunpower Renewables wants to #breakthebias for International Women’s Day by committing to deliver solar-powered electricity to over 10,000 houses in over 100 communities, ensuring that women and girl children in India can truly be ‘atma nirbhar.’

The organization aspires to shatter the shackles of the past and help women emerge as caretakers of their future by using sustainable solar-based energy to solve women’s essential challenges, such as education and self-care.

“Our societal goal is to enable women access to uninterrupted electricity through sustainable, renewable energy storage solutions,” said Nitasha Badhwar, Sunpower Renewables’ Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer. Sustainable Energy For All, a United Nations initiative, promotes women’s empowerment at the micro level through clean energy-driven economic opportunities. My objective as a sustainability advocate and proponent of “women-led” innovation is to “build a clean, solar energy-driven revolution for women around the world.”
