Stand Up India: PM highlights India’s entrepreneurial energy

New Delhi: The Stand Up India programme, according to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is part of ongoing efforts to leverage India’s entrepreneurial potential.

“India is brimming of entrepreneurial energy, and the Stand Up India programme is a part of the ongoing efforts to channel this spirit toward further progress and prosperity,” he stated in a tweet.

The government of India established Stand-Up India on 5 April 2016 to encourage women and people from the SC and ST communities to start businesses. The scheme provides bank loans ranging from Rs 10 lakh (US$13,000) to Rs 1 crore (US$130,000) to scheduled castes and tribes, as well as women, who are starting new businesses outside of the farm sector.
