Spotify gets Instagram-like design with vertical scrolling
Spotify is redesigning its app’s main home screen in order to make it easier for users to discover new audio and video content. The redesign emphasises visuals and vertical scrolling, transforming the previously static display of album covers into a dynamic feed akin to TikTok and Instagram’s popular formats.
The new visual feeds, according to the company, will allow for “deeper discovery and more meaningful connections between artists and fans.”
Spotify also revealed that it has 500 million monthly active listeners. Spotify revealed in its annual music royalties report that the number of artists earning over $1 million and those earning over $10,000 has more than doubled in the last five years.
The Podcasts section will show audio and visual snippets of a recommended show, with the option to continue listening where the preview left off, while the Audiobook feed will work similarly.

Smart Shuffle is the new name for the Enhance tool, which will now add suggestions to playlists “that perfectly match the vibe” and mix up the order.
Spotify will also add an auto-play feature for podcasts, allowing users to automatically play “another relevant episode” based on what they were listening to.
Users in the United States and Canada can also use Spotify’s AI DJ feature in the Music tab, which allows them to preview up to five different songs from an album or playlist by tapping on the cards.
