The Sami-Sabinsa Group, a multi-national health research corporation headquartered in Bengaluru, donated Rs. 50 lakhs to The Akshaya Patra Foundation through its philanthropic arm, the Dr. Majeed Foundation. The donation will help to fund and supply mid-day meals to underprivileged youngsters in and around Bengaluru.
Dr. Anju Majeed, Director, Sami-Sabinsa Group, and Mr. Anant Arora, Chief Sustainability and Communication Officer, Akshaya Patra, flagged off the food delivery van last Friday at Rajaji Nagar in Bengaluru, Karnataka, to commemorate the activity. Akshaya Patra feeds around 75,000 pupils from their Rajaji Nagar kitchen, which serves 477 schools.
Dr. Anju Majeed said on the occasion, “Our deep commitment to creating meaningful and impactful CSR interventions has improved the quality of life of vulnerable communities.” We believe that our collaboration with The Akshaya Patra Foundation will aid in the fight against childhood malnutrition.”

The Sami-Sabinsa crew also went to the kitchen to learn about the strict procedures used to prepare the meals, as well as the safety and sanitary precautions in place.
