Reliance Foundation, Mizoram Football Association team up

Reliance Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) division of Reliance Industries (RIL), and the Mizoram Football Foundation have joined forces to create the Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) Naupang (Children) League, which aims to develop a hyper-local pathway and a decentralized approach to grassroots football. This league intends to provide exposure to competition for gifted footballers as young as 5 years old.

This league has age divisions that range from under 6 to under 13 years old, with a variety of game forms. Four venues around Mizoram will host the RFYC Naupang (Children) League, with two models. While two leagues in Aizawl and Champai will be owned and run by RFYC, two leagues in Lunglei and Kolasib will be hosted by Mizoram FA and District FAs and enabled by RFYC. According to a RIL release, RFYC will also collaborate with RF Youth Sports to ensure more matches and greater exposure for deserving participants.

Football is a way of life in Mizoram, according to Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani, and the relationship between RF Young Champions and Mizoram Football Association will deliver high-quality football instruction.

Lalnghinglova Hmar, honorary secretary of the Mizoram Football Association and a member of the AIFF Executive Committee, said, “We are anticipating the start and in the same year the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup is in India and FIFA Men’s World Cup, would give the kids extra enthusiasm. MFA is happy that the Reliance Foundation has been giving young children a platform to realise their ambitions of playing sports.
