CSR: RBL Bank initiative launched to support underprivileged girls battling cancer

RBL Bank

RBL Bank, one of India’s top private sector banks, proudly presented ‘Project Khwaish,’ an earnest humanitarian effort dedicated to providing cancer treatment and care for poor girl-children, on its 80th Foundation Day. This great effort, in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital, aims to help 80 girl-children with comprehensive cancer care support valued at Rs. 3.20 crore.

With the first phase launched at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai and Varanasi, girl-children from all states in the northern, western, and eastern regions can now benefit from this treatment. Subsequent phases are planned in collaboration with Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai, where it would support girl-children from all southern Indian states, and Narayana Hrudayalaya Charitable Trust in Bengaluru.

According to a National Cancer Institute research published in July 2021, just 15,000 of 50,000 youngsters diagnosed with cancer get treatment. The number of girl-children denied treatment among the remainder is on the higher side, reflecting a traditional bias against the girl-child. Early detection of juvenile cancer can result in a recovery rate of up to 85%. Project Khwaish seeks to have a positive and transformative impact by providing necessary medical care and support to cancer patients throughout their treatment journey.

“The 80th Foundation Day is a momentous occasion, and we are incredibly proud to launch ‘Project Khwaish,’ a heartfelt initiative dedicated to delivering cancer treatment and care to underprivileged girl-children,” stated R Subramaniakumar, MD & CEO of RBL Bank. Our fervent belief that every child deserves access to high-quality healthcare is at the heart of this endeavor. We renew our commitment to this noble cause by taking this small step.
