Vedanta CEO Venkatakrishnan resigns citing personal reasons; Sunil Duggal appointed interim chief exec –

Vedanta Ltd on Friday said its Chief military officer Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan has resigned citing personal reasons. The resignation is going to be effective April 5, Vedanta Ltd said during a BSE filing.

As per the board of directors of the corporate in their meeting persisted March 27, 2020, have taken note of the resignation of S Venkatakrishnan from the position of the whole-time director and CEO of the corporate w.e.f. close of business hours on April 5, 2020, on account of private reasons, Vedanta Ltd said.

As a prime subsidiary of Vedanta, the company said Sunil Duggal, whole-time director and CEO of Hindustan Zinc Ltd, will take additional charge as an interim CEO of Vedanta Ltd from April 6.

Further, as an additional non-executive director, the company announced the appointment of Anil Agarwal designated as chairman of the company’s board with effect from Saturday.

The executive vice-chairman of the company’s board, as the board has also re-designated Navin Agarwal with effect from the close of business hours on Friday.

As per said that the company’s director with effect from April 5, 2020, Vedanta Ltd said Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan will step down as CEO and therefore for private reasons and can rejoin his family in South Africa

On his appointment, Duggal within the statement said, “I am indebted to the corporate for this appointment. I’m confident that at Vedanta, with its strong moorings, ready to I will be able to steer the corporate through its trajectory of growth and contribute to the economic progress of our country.

It said the corporate has appointed Sunil Duggal as interim chief military officer of the corporate . He will report back to chairman, the statement said.
