New Delhi: Fly Ash goes a long way as NTPC ties up with cement factories – With a new beginning to collaborate with cement manufacturers across the country India’s largest power producer, National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC Ltd), has tie up to supply ash to understand 100% by-product produced utilization during power generation.

To maneuver ash in a cheap and environment-friendly manner NTPC is leveraging the Indian Railways’ sprawling network with the primary power plant in Uttar Pradesh to send conditioned ash to cement manufacturers of 3,834 metric tonnes (MT) of conditioned ash in 59 BOXN wagons to Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd.’s plant at Nagaon, Assam, rail rakes were dispatched to Tikaria (Uttar Pradesh), Kymore (Madhya Pradesh) and Ropar (Punjab).

It was utilized for various productive purposes ash during the financial year 2019-20, nearly 44.33 million tonne ash annually of which 80 per cent (nearly 52 million MT) is ash and at the current scenario, nearly 73 per cent of ash is being utilized for the production of cement and ash bricks, road embankment construction, mine-filling, low-lying exploitation and ash dyke capacity of power stations comprising 24 coal with seven combined cycle gas/liquid fuel, one hydro, 13 renewables with 25 subsidiary and JV power stations. The Group has quite 20 GW of capacity under construction, including 5 GW of renewable energy projects.
