POWERGRID and NFCH sign an MoU
POWERGRID and NFCH – NEW DELHI: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has signed an MoU with the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) to provide financial help for the education of 1632 children from Assam, Manipur, and Chhattisgarh who have been affected by violence.
Shri V. K. Singh, Director (Personnel), POWERGRID, and Shri Manoj Pant, Secretary, NFCH, signed the MoU.
The National Foundation for Communal Harmony is a Ministry of Home Affairs-affiliated institution.
POWERGRID is providing financial assistance of Rs.2.55 crore for a one-year period in 2021-22 under the project “Assist,” for the education of students who have been left orphaned or destitute due to the death or permanent incapacitation of either both parents or the family’s main breadwinner during communal, caste, ethnic, or terrorist violence.
From 2014 to 2015, POWERGRID helped NFCH in its efforts to educate youngsters. Last year, 1260 children were assisted, with 1048 of them enrolled in classes up to 12th grade, 185 pursuing graduate and post-graduation courses, and 27 pursuing professional degrees such as MBBS/MD, B. Tech, MBA, BCA, B. Ed., BALLB, and so on.
