PowerGrid acquires SPV Khetri Narela Transmission Ltd
SPV Khetri Narela Transmission – NEW DELHI: Following success in the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) conducted in accordance with the Government of India’s standards.
The transmission project, which is being built on a Build, Own, Operate, and Maintain basis, would aid in the evacuation of renewable energy from Rajasthan’s 8.1 GW Phase-II Solar Energy Zones to Delhi, the country’s northern region.
The project includes the construction of a 765 kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) in Delhi, as well as the installation of 765 kV D/C Transmission lines that run across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi, each with a capacity of roughly 4000 MW.

The project will benefit industries, households, and enterprises, as well as the country’s overall economic development. It would upgrade transmission infrastructure to evacuate green energy, reducing India’s reliance on fossil fuels and fulfilling the government’s goal of 500 GW capacity from non-fossil sources by 2030.
By supplying quality and reliable green power across the country, this significant transmission project would improve ease of life as well as provide GatiShakti to infrastructure development operations.
POWERGRID now operates 265 substations with a total capacity of 172,557 ckm and 476,772 MVA. POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability of >99 percent thanks to the deployment of cutting-edge technological tools and procedures, as well as increased automation and digital solutions.
