IIT Madras gets 10.5 cr from Power Grid Corporation for scholarship
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has announced a partnership with India’s Power Grid Corporation to launch a scholarship programme for B. Tech students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Power Grid Corporation of India has committed Rs. 10.5 crore to establish a scholarship fund. In a statement, IIT Madras said, “This fund would benefit deserving students at IIT Madras by covering their tuition fees through merit-cum-means scholarships.”
The institute has received the greatest single gift for scholarships under CSR in the financial year 2021-22, it noted.

Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, declared on the occasion, “IIT Madras’ motto is to be a ‘Institute for all.'” IIT Madras has become more accessible to all through initiatives such is the Bachelor of Science degree programme and grants for qualified candidates.
The institute expresses its heartfelt gratitude to POWERGRID. IIT Madras also intends to extend such scholarships to all technical colleges in the country.”
