PM Modi inaugurates Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru
On February 13, 2023, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of Asia’s largest aero show, Aero India 2023, at Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru. The Prime Minister also issued a commemorative stamp to mark the occasion. The five-day event, themed “The Runway to a Billion Opportunities,” will highlight India’s advancements in aerospace and defence capabilities. In line with the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision for a secure and prosperous future, it will display indigenous equipment/technologies and form partnerships with foreign companies.
In his address to the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the sky over Bengaluru bears witness to New India’s capabilities. “This new height is the reality of New India; today, India is touching and transcending new heights,” the Prime Minister stated.
According to the Prime Minister, Aero India 2023 is a shining example of India’s growing capabilities, and the presence of around 100 nations at this event demonstrates the world’s trust in India. He emphasized the presence of over 800 exhibitors, including Indian MSMEs and startups as well as world-renowned corporations. The Prime Minister stated that the strength of Aatmanirbhar Bharat is the theme of Aero India 2023, “The Runway to a Billion Opportunities.”
Aero India 2023
The Prime Minister emphasised the significance of Aero India taking place in Karnataka, India’s technological advancement hub. He stated that this will provide new opportunities for Karnataka’s youth in the aviation sector. The Prime Minister urged Karnataka’s youth to use there own technical knowledge in defending to help bolster the country.
“When the country moves forward with new thinking, new approach, its systems suddenly change according to the innovative thoughts,” the Prime Minister said, emphasising that Aero India 2023 reflects New India’s shifting approach. The Prime Minister recounted that Aero India was once considered “just a show” and a “window to sell to India,” but that interpretation has shifted.
In his speech, the Raksha Mantri praised Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for directing India onto the global political and economical map, emphasising his ongoing devotion to the country’s industrial growth. Aero India, he said, was an affirmation of that resolve.
According to Shri Rajnath Singh, India has emerged as a promising manufacturing destination due to its business-friendly environment and cost-competitiveness. “India has become the fifth largest economy in the world due to the vision and determination of our Prime Minister. It is on track to become the world’s third largest economy within the next 4-5 years. “India’s G-20 presidency this year reflects India’s growing stature on international platforms,” he added.
The Raksha Mantri also shed light on the Indian defence sector’s growth story, saying that it has come a long way in the last few years and is marching ahead with full zeal and dedication on the path of empowering the nation. He referred to Aero India as one of the pillars that have helped to strengthen the defence sector and give it a new identity.
Shri Rajnath Singh welcomed the Defense Ministers, Service Chiefs, CEOs, officials, and delegates from various countries who were attending the 14th Aero India. He praised the fact that over 800 exhibitors from India and abroad will showcase their products and technologies over the course of the five-day event. He described the large turnout as evidence of the public’s renewed confidence.
The Raksha Mantri also praised Karnataka Chief Minister Shri Basavaraj Bommai for organising such a large-scale event. Karnataka, he said, was a pioneer in industrialisation and one of the most important states contributing to India’s economic growth.
Among those present were Karnataka Governor Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot, Karnataka Chief Minister Shri Basvaraj Bommai, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt.
