This day is known as the “red letter day” in India’s modern development and transformation history.

“It’s a special day for us. The hamlet has gone down in Indian history as the first carbon-neutral solar village, thanks to Modi ji’s blessing. We appreciate the Prime Minister’s decision to select this hamlet from across the country “Gurdeep Singh, a Palli villager, explained.

Officials claimed that under the national government’s Gram Urja Swaraj‘ programme, 1,500 solar panels covering a total area of 6,408 square metres will provide clean electricity to 340 homes in the model panchayat.

Village Transformation

With an enhanced Panchayat Ghar, refurbished government high school building, new pond, and improved playfields, the community located just 17 kilometres from the winter capital Jammu is undergoing a huge transformation.

Officials said the renovation was finished in record time for a cost of Rs 2.75 crore.

The generated electricity will be distributed to the community via the local power grid station, which requires 2,000 units per day.

The village, which has 450 households, has received solar Chulhas (stoves), and the next phase will cover all of the houses after the prime minister’s arrival, according to officials.
