NITI Aayog – Governing council meeting starts
The seventh Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog got underway here on Sunday. Topics covered include crop diversification, urban development, and the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP).
The meeting is being facilitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Council will meet physically for the first time since July 2019 at this time.
All chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and a number of Union ministers are represented on the Council, which is the top body of NITI Aayog.
The head of NITI Aayog is the prime minister.
Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, S. Jaishankar, and chief ministers of West Bengal, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam are among the union ministers present at the meeting.
K Chandrasekhar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana, is abstaining from the meeting.
A full council meeting typically takes place once a year.
The 2020 gathering was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The council’s initial meeting was held on February 8, 2015.
