The event was chaired by Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO & Director – BALCO along with other senior members of the company. Mr. Pati appreciated and applauded the women’s zeal, passion, and commitment towards organizational growth. He shared his vision of having more women leaders in the future to lead the company as CEOs. The women also expressed their gratitude to the management for continuously supporting their career growth. Mr. Pati also urged the women workforce to leverage the various programs initiated by the company to provide them with a meaningful, supportive, and empowering environment. The event culminated with various fun-filled activities.

The event was in celebration of the prestigious award for Best Workplace for Women by The Economic Times, which BALCO bagged recently. The award bears testimony to the company’s continued efforts towards creating a meaningful, supportive and empowering environment for the women workforce. It is inherent in the culture of BALCO to strive for Vedanta Group’s philosophy of building a diverse and encouraging environment for all.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO, and Director, BALCO said, “We are striving towards a gender diversity ratio of 50% by recruiting more women fresh out of college. We are also ensuring that our diversity leaders are engaged and connected with all the members of management through regular communication meets. We have launched initiatives such as V Lead that focus on grooming leaders from within the organization. BALCO is all set to be future-ready in creating a diverse and inclusive environment for women workforce, in line with the same vision BALCO has rolled out a drive to offer higher roles to its recognized female employees after meticulous performance evaluations along with compensation revision. The company regularly organizes communication meets with Industry leaders and has one of its kind mentorship programs like V Lead for its women workforce for new insights and better grooming. BALCO has been advocating of diverse work culture and with its many new-age learning & growth opportunities, it is creating a strong platform to empower women to shatter the glass ceilings.

BALCO is planning to introduce comprehensive to ensure health and wellbeing across all dimensions of health. BALCO has an enhanced parental leave policy for its employees. Building upon its employee-friendly policies, the company’s maternity leave has been enhanced to 26 weeks. The company has also had an adoption leave for 12 weeks and a paternity leave for 1 week, the new parental leave policy is best-in-class in the industry. It also provides maternity benefits and transition program for women returning after maternity leave to ensure a strong supportive environment for the employee by providing nursing breaks for females having children up to the age of 6 years against the norm of 1.5 years as per the law and providing state-of-art creche facility inside the plant premises. BALCO also provides a robust spouse employment policy to ensure the retention of talents placed at remote locations.
