MNRE to organize ‘Low-Cost Finance’ Event
On the sidelines of the 3rd Energy Transition Working Group (ETWG) meeting, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will host an event titled ‘Low-Cost Finance for New and Emerging Energy Technologies’ on May 15, 2023. The event will take place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, in collaboration with the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) as a knowledge partner.
Policymakers, technology developers, international and local financial institutions, development banks, industrial participants, academics, and other key stakeholders are expected to actively participate in the event. The seminars will concentrate on estimating cost-effective funding for energy transitions based on the future trajectory of developing essential technologies such as hydrogen, offshore wind, energy storage, and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS).

The paper “Low-Cost Finance for Energy Transition,” published by IRENA in conjunction with the MNRE under the G20’s India Presidency, was also unveiled at the G20 ETWG side event. The paper includes a detailed toolkit for increasing the availability of low-cost finance in G20 countries and beyond.
Mr. Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Mr. Alok Kumar, ETWG Chair & Secretary, Ministry of Power, Ms. Abha Shukla, Principal Secretary Energy, Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director, IREDA, and Ms. Gauri Singh, Deputy Director-General, IRENA will attend the opening plenary.
