MCL awarded ‘Best Mother Plant’

New Delhi: At the Odisha MSME Meet 2022, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited was named Best Mother Plant by OASME. The MSE sector accounted for 41.6% of the Company’s total 2021–22 goods purchases, which totaled more than Rs 185 crore, while the same period’s services purchases totaled more than Rs 135 crore. 1297 MSEs benefited from this. 
 
In MCL, there are 45 approved mining projects with a combined coal production capacity of 190.83 Mty. Out of 45 projects, 28 were completed by 1 April 2009 with a total capacity of 73.98 Mty and a sanctioned capital investment of Rs 2,348.61 crore (US$290 million). The total capital outlay of these 45 projects is Rs 6,076.78 crore (US$760 million). 
 
Two of the 28 finished projects have been used up (Balanda OCP & Basundhara-East OCP). Within a short period of time, one expenditure project, namely Lajkura Expn. (2.50 Mty, 1.50 Mty incr.), will be approved.
