Coal miners were recognized for their remarkable achievement as Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) commemorated Miners’ Day on May 1st, 2023, with zest and devotion. Jagannath Area, Talcher Coalfields hosted the festival.

The lamp was lit by Shri J.K Borah, Director (Technical), the function’s principal guest. Shri A.K Behura, Director (Finance), and other senior officers from the MCL fraternity, as well as representatives from Trade Unions, Officers’ Association, and workers, were present during the event. More than 150 MCL coal miners were recognized for their remarkable achievement in several areas.

During his speech, Shri Borah conveyed his thanks to the miners for their hard work and honesty, which has lifted MCL to the No. 1 position in coal production and dispatch, fulfilling our country’s expanding need for coal in the power sector.

The greatest open cast project was Lakhanpur, the best underground mine was HBI Orient, and the best region in total performance was Hingula, which received the prized Malpuri trophy.

The celebration was colored by folk artists presenting the numerous colors of Odiya culture in their dance, which was the primary attraction of the eve’s cultural program.
