LTI donated a bus to Sankara Eye Hospital
As part of their CSR programme, Larsen & Toubro donated a 40-seater bus to Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal, Chennai. The bus will be used to host free eye screening clinics for underprivileged people in and around Chennai and the surrounding districts. At a brief ceremony this morning, the bus was waved down at the Pammal campus of the Sankara Eye Hospital.
The hospital will use the bus to reach out to people with eye conditions through their various eye camps as part of their outreach programmes, diagnosing and treating them where feasible. Patients with additional or more serious eye conditions are taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

A company spokeswoman stated that “healthcare represents a very significant element of our CSR programme” and that “this donation is yet another step in our attempt to make quality healthcare available and affordable to the needy.” We are pleased with the breadth and depth of the Sankara Eye Hospital’s facilities and offers, and we value our long-standing relationship with them.
In addition to previously supporting the construction of Sankara Eye Hospital’s multi-specialty hospital in Kancheepuram, close to Chennai, by donating another 30-seater bus and an ICU ambulance, as well as by installing a 50 kW solar plant and establishing training facilities, L&T‘s long-standing partnership with Sankara Eye Hospital now includes the donation of a bus.
