Jio and Meta to launch WhatsApp Shopping experience
29 August 2022, India Today, Jio Platforms and Meta announced the debut of the first-ever end-to-end WhatsApp Shopping experience, allowing users to purchase items from JioMart within a chat. In a first for the entire world, JioMart on WhatsApp will let users in India, including those who have never shopped online before, easily browse through JioMart’s entire grocery catalogue, add things to the cart, and make the payment to finish the transaction – all without leaving the WhatsApp chat.
In a Facebook post, Meta’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated: “We are eager to begin our collaboration with JioMart in India. People can now purchase groceries from JioMart directly in a chat, which is our first-ever end-to-end purchasing experience on WhatsApp. Business messaging is gaining a lot of traction, and in the next years, chat-based interactions like this will predominate in how people and businesses communicate.”
