According to the company’s chairman, Akash Ambani, Reliance Jio Infocomm is cooperating with the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay on the ‘Bharat GPT’ programme. Ambani has also hinted at the possibility of introducing a television-specific operating system.

Ambani revealed the company’s ambition of creating a “ecosystem of development” during his speech at IIT Bombay’s annual Techfest, signaling that the framework for “Jio 2.0” was being laid. The Reliance Jio-IIT Bombay collaboration dates back to 2014.

Ambani believes that applications of massive language models and generative artificial intelligence (AI) will have an impact on the coming decade. According to him, artificial intelligence will alter every element of products and services. “We are working very hard to launch AI not only as a vertical inside our organization, but also horizontally across all our sectors,” Ambani said in a statement.

The company plans to extend its portfolio by launching new solutions in industries such as media, communication, commerce, and devices. Ambani is bullish on the introduction of 5G private networks, which will allow any organization, regardless of size, to be outfitted with a 5G stack.

According to Ambani, India might be the leading “innovation centre” in the future decade, with a $6 trillion economy by the end of the decade.
