IRCON hands over Jaynagar-Kurtha cross border rail section to Nepal Govt – The newly commissioned cross-border rail section from Jaynagar (Km. 0.00) to Kurtha (Km. 34.90) to Government of Nepal (GoN) has been recently handover by IRCON for the Government of India (GoI) on 22nd October, 2021. Ms Renu Kumar Yadav, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Government of Nepal, were likewise present on the event, Shri Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Ambassador of India to Nepal, and For IRCON, Shri Ravi Sahai, Project Head, and Shri Surender Singh, Executive Director gave over the undertaking to Shri Niranjan Kumar Jha, MD, Nepal Railway Company Ltd. (for GoN) and Shri Deepak Kumar Bhattarai, Director General, Department of Railways.
Under the award help from the Government of India and MoU endorsed among GoI and GoN to embrace Indo-Nepal Cross Border Railway Projects, crafted by Jaynagar (India) to Bardibas (Nepal) rail line project was shared with Ircon International Limited.
The first period of 34.9 Km Jaynagar (India) – Kurtha (Nepal) segment is essential for 68.72 Km Jaynagar-Bijalpura-Bardibas rail interface being worked under Government of India award help of NPR 8.77 billion. This part was before a thin measure rail interface among Jayanagar and Bijalpura.
