Intel intends to sell its Bengaluru facility as it pursues its ‘hybrid-first’ strategy. According to the Economic Times, the corporation intends to sell the office and then engage into a lease deal with the new owners. The office facility is 2,50,000 square feet and is located on Old Airport Road. The Bengaluru branch primarily serves employees in the design and engineering divisions.
According to the article, this office is already a part of a bidding procedure led by “well-known builders.” The transaction is expected to be worth more than Rs 450 crore. Notably, the company will continue to operate from the same site even after the sale process is completed.
Intel told Tech Today in an email, “As a hybrid-first company, we are continuing to assess and optimise our space utilisation to create more vibrant workspaces for our employees when they are on-site, while also achieving cost reductions.” As a result, we will be combining several offices in Bengaluru. Bengaluru remains a significant design and engineering centre for Intel, with around 14,000 personnel working there.”

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Intel introduced their hybrid model for employees back in 2021. Christy Pambianchi, Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, advocated a hybrid-first paradigm at the time. In a blog post, she noted, “The majority of employees will split their time between working remotely and in the office.” We are not requiring a single strategy to the amount of days per week that all employees should be on-site or how people should collaborate. We are empowering teams to discover the balance that drives outcomes and fulfils our business objectives. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for our global workforce.”
Pambianchi also claimed that 90% of Intel employees prefer a hybrid workforce when their sites open.
