India’s digital payment org NPCI to launch Smart Data Center in Chennai

India’s digital payment org NPCI to launch Smart Data Center in Chennai – National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the umbrella organization for operating retail payments and settlement systems in India, plans to launch its own Smart Data Center in Chennai. the info center is going to be built as per international standards and would be recognized because of the first TIER IV Data Center in Chennai.

NPCI is building its own Smart Data Center to deal with the National critical set-up with a highly secured infrastructure. The Smart Data Center will host major services under DIGITAL INDIA initiatives. It’ll be located in SIPCOT Information Technology Park, Siruseri.

The Smart Data Center would have a modular design for higher sustainability. it’s getting to be environment friendly with the adoption of green building features, rainwater harvesting, and solar panels. The Smart Data Center is being built with an IoT based building management system that will have 8 layers of the safety system.

Dr. N. Rajendran, Chief Technology Officer, NPCI said during a statement, “We would really like to thank Hon’ble CM of Tamil Nadu for laying the inspiration stone of our Smart Data Center. Our focus will always remain on enhancing acceptance infrastructure for digital payments so on encourage customers towards digital transactions to realize RBI and Government’s less cash objective. With the Smart Data Center, we are happy to make more employment opportunities also .”

NPCI has engaged Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as its turnkey contractor for building the Smart Data Center.

As an umbrella organization for operating retail payments and settlement systems in India NPCI was established in 2008 and has created a strong payment and settlement infrastructure within the country. it’s changed the way payments are made in India through a bouquet of retail payment products like RuPay card, cash Service (IMPS), Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), BHIM Aadhaar, National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC Fastag) and Bharat BillPay. NPCI also launched UPI 2.0 to supply safer and comprehensive services to consumers and merchants.
