“The Gir” By RIL – Inauguration

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) designed and implemented the “The Gir: Pride of Gujarat” traffic island beautification project at Gandhinagar’s Indroda Circle. The project was unveiled by Minister of State for Home and Revenue Harsh Sanghvi.

Shri Harsh Sanghvi, Minister of State for Home and Revenue, declared at the opening that “The Indroda circle will become a key attraction for all visitors to Gandhinagar from this point on.” This Gir facsimile gives us a lifelike impression of the Gir lions, the nearby trees, the forest, and other creatures. I applaud Parimalbhai and Reliance Foundation for their ongoing efforts to raise awareness of Gir and its lions.

A miniature version of the Sasan Gir, home to the beautiful Asiatic Lions, may be found in the film “The Gir: Pride of Gujarat.” The project is being developed in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India as part of RIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) (NHAI).

The Gir

The Gir occupies 25,000 square feet of the project’s total development area, which is about 55,000 square feet. As part of the beautification project, 28 life-size replicas of various wild animals and birds will be erected, including the well-known Asiatic Lions (12 numbers), Pangolin, Leopard, Hyena, Langur, Antelope, Spotted Dears, Python, Vulture, etc.

“I have been passionate about the Asiatic Lion of Gir for more than three decades,” Parimal Nathwani said at this time. Since the Asiatic Lion is only found in the Gir in Gujarat, we at RIL are working to raise awareness of the Pride of Gujarat and India.

On August 30, 2022, the ceremony was inaugurated in the presence of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force (Hoff) SK Chaturvedi (IFS), Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Wildlife (I/C) Nityanand Srivastav (IFS), Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Director-Corporate Affairs of RIL Parimal Nathwani, as well as other dignitaries.
