Hardayal Municipal Heritage Public Library in Delhi signs MoU with PowerGrid

Hardayal Municipal Heritage Public Library – Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) signed an MoU with Hardayal Municipal Heritage Public Library, Delhi (HMHPL) on January 20 as part of a CSR project to help update the library’s existing infrastructure by supplying furniture, equipment, books, and other items. Even more so, in order to improve 
 
This project includes the creation of a digital section to increase e-awareness, promote the exchange of ideas and information, and instil reading habits in youth. 
 
(POWERGRID GYAN KENDRA) to provide e-learning facilities via a networked system with sufficient computers. The project’s estimated cost is Rs 94.60 lakh, and it will be carried out by POWERGRID Northern Region-I. 
 
The Hardayal Municipal Heritage Public Library (HMHPL), located in the heart of Chandni Chowk, is Delhi’s oldest public library. It is open to the public for free and there are no fees for those who use the reading section. More than 1,70,000 books in Hindi, English, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, and Sanskrit make up the library’s unique collection. It is one of the few libraries in the world to have at least 8,000 rare volumes in its collection. The library’s oldest book is block-printed. 
 
Shri Vinayak Chauhan, senior general manager (CSR), POWERGRID, and Smt Poonam Parashar Jha, secretary, HMHPL, signed the agreement. The occasion was attended by Shri U C Trivedi, POWERGRID’s chief manager, as well as other senior authorities.
