Centres for skill development – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open skill development centers in Maharashtra on October 19th, with the goal of increasing skill development among the state’s rural young in order to produce a more competent and skilled workforce. On the fifth day of Navratri, the Prime Minister would virtually inaugurate over 500 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras.
A total of 511 Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras are being constructed across 34 rural districts of Maharashtra to bridge the skills gap in the industry and the unemployed young. These will be used to carry out skill development training programs in a variety of areas in order to provide employment prospects for rural youth.
The Government of India is constantly launching efforts to equip youths across the country with industry-relevant skills.

Skills on Wheels
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, launched the ‘Skills on Wheels’ program in Delhi in September this year in conjunction with the National Skill Development Corporation and IndusInd Bank.
The initiative will provide critical Digital Skills to rural youth, particularly women, in order to prepare them for employment and the future. Over the course of five years, a customized bus with retrofitting tools will be utilized to empower 60,000 youngsters. The bus will visit to India’s most distant locations. The goal is to improve rural households’ livelihoods by offering suitable vocational training to its youth population.
MoUs signed with IBM for skilling students
This year, ahead of Teachers’ Day (September 5), the Government of India announced a three-year cooperation with Meta to promote education, skill development, and entrepreneurship. In New Delhi, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Meta signed a three-year partnership agreement.
“Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a Generation of Students, Educators, and Entrepreneurs” is the project’s title. Meta and the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exchanged three Letters of Intent for this purpose.
Skill India Digital
In September, eight Memorandums of Understanding were signed between the Ministries of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship and IBM. These Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will give selected courses to empower students in India with future-ready skills. The partnership will center on the co-creation of curriculum for developing learners’ skills in new technologies such as AI (including generative AI), cybersecurity, cloud computing, and professional development skills throughout school education, higher education, and vocational skills.
