PM inaugurates Global AYUSH summit

Global AYUSH summit – Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Global AYUSH Investment & Innovation Summit at Gandhinagar’s Mahatma Mandir on Wednesday. The occasion was also attended by Mauritius’ Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and World Health Organization Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus.

PM Jugnauth noted during the inaugural ceremony that India is known as the world’s pharmacy. India will also emerge as a leader in AYUSH, Ayurveda, and traditional medicine, he said.

Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, remarked that through AYUSH, India will reach out to the entire world and the entire world will reach out to India. According to him, the AYUSH business is experiencing substantial expansion. According to him, the Ayush business has expanded at a rate of 17% per year since 2014, and by the end of this year, it is expected to be worth $23 billion.

Five plenary sessions, eight roundtables, six seminars, and two symposiums will be held throughout the three-day Global AYUSH Investment & Innovation Summit. The summit will feature over 90 notable speakers and 100 exhibitors. The Summit will aid in the identification of investment opportunities and provide a boost to innovation, R&D, the start-up ecosystem, and the wellness industry. It will serve as a platform for future partnerships by bringing together industry leaders, educators, and intellectuals.

PM Modi further stated that the investment and innovation opportunities in the field of AYUSH are endless. “The manufacturing of Ayurvedic medications, vitamins, and cosmetics is already at an all-time high. According to him, the AYUSH business was worth less than $3 billion in 2014, but has since grown to $18 billion.

PM Modi also stated that traditional medicine has aided in the growth of Kerala tourism. This power exists across India, in every corner of the country. He believes that ‘Heal in India’ would be a major brand this decade. Wellness centres based on Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and other ancient healing systems can be quite popular.

Last Monday, the FSSAI announced a new category called ‘AYUSH Aahar‘ under its laws, according to Modi. This will make it easier for herbal nutritional supplement manufacturers. He believes it is critical that farmers producing therapeutic plants have the ability to quickly connect with the market. The government is also working to modernise and expand the AYUSH e-marketplace in this regard.

According to the Prime Minister, India is in the midst of a unicorn period. So far, 14 Indian start-ups have entered the Unicorn Club in the year 2022. I am confident that unicorns will emerge from our AYUSH start-ups in the near future.
