FUJIFILM India, a major imaging firm, launched their recent CSR Campaign for Tuberculosis Screening in Valsad, Gujarat, with a pledge to support the government’s “TB Harega Desh Jeetega” initiative. The effort, which will last 10 months and will focus on two districts, Banaskantha and Valsad, intends to reach poor people in industrial pockets, mining belts, villages, and semi-rural areas where tuberculosis (TB) remains a persistent health concern. The Valsad TB Screening Mobile Vehicle was flagged off by the District Collector of Valsad, Ms. Kshipra S. Agre, along with the Valsad District Development Officer, Shri Manish Gurwani.
According to the India TB Report 2023, India reported an all-time high of 24.2 lakh TB cases in 2022, a 13% rise over the previous year. This underscores the importance of increasing TB awareness and preventive efforts, and FUJIFILM India’s latest project #Where Innovation Meets Care intends to support government efforts. Valsad, located in the Indian state of Gujarat, has a current estimated population of 157,000 people. In this dynamic environment, tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis is critical.
FUJIFILM India enters the third phase of its continuing tuberculosis screening program with the Tuberculosis Screening Initiative. The heart of this effort is targeted tuberculosis screening throughout the underprivileged neighborhood through the use of new technologies such as HRA-based screening through competent healthcare workers and chest X-rays using Fujifilm’s FDR-Xair technology. The FDR Xair is a lightweight handheld X-ray device that features the FDR DEVO detector system, which boasts great sensitivity, assuring low patient dose and superior image clarity, and is also integrated with AI for immediate on-the-spot findings. The initiative will incorporate cutting-edge technologies, such as radiologist interpretation for all X-Rays and NAT testing for sputum testing, to provide speedy and exact TB detection.

Mr. Shansuke Honda, Senior Manager, Business Advisor – Healthcare Business, stated regarding the initiative, “We firmly believe that true, ground-level impact comes from nurturing communities and making collective progress.” As a healthcare organization, our goal is to help India achieve its goal of achieving a TB-free country by 2025. We are confident that we can eradicate this disease using the most advanced healthcare technologies and a comprehensive strategy. Together with our committed partners and the spirit of ‘TB Harega, Desh Jeetega,’ we are resolved to eradicate tuberculosis in Valsad.”
Furthermore, in order to foster community mobilization and awareness, the campaign will arrange public gatherings, carry out comprehensive awareness campaigns, disseminate educational pamphlets, and collaborate with regional influencers. Community leaders will thus aggressively promote tuberculosis screening in order to demonstrate that the significance of early detection is generally acknowledged. Additionally, in order to efficiently reach areas that are inaccessible, the initiative will include mobile units that are outfitted with two Type B ambulances that contain vital medical facilities.
In Banaskantha, Gujarat, earlier this month, FUJIFILM India unveiled its innovative mobile van, launching the campaign against tuberculosis in impoverished areas. At the event, district collector Shri Varunkumar Baranwal and district development officer Shri Swapnil Khare officially launched the van, which was a significant step toward combating tuberculosis in underserved communities.
