Flipkart Big Billion Days sale draws 91 million customers during early access and day 1

Flipkart Big Billion Days sale – Walmart-backed e-commerce business Flipkart has had 91 million users using its platform during early access and day 1 of its flagship shopping event ‘The Big Billion Days (TBBD)’.

The 10th edition of TBBD officially began on October 8, with early access for VIP and Plus users beginning on October 7.

Orders by Plus members – participants to its loyalty program – increased 7X above daily sales, according to the local e-commerce site.

During this time, the most popular products were mobile phones, appliances, lifestyle, beauty and general merchandise (BGM), electronics, and house. Smartphones priced at Rs 20,000 and above have seen a significant increase in demand from both urban and tier 2+ audiences. According to the corporation, lifestyle, electronics, and BGM all had a big influence in gaining new clients.

Grooming, food & nutrition, make-up, and fragrances products were also in high demand during early access and day one of the sale event.

The cities with the most shoppers were Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad, followed by Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and Gurgaon. Hisar, Lucknow, and Patna were all among the top cities experiencing an increase in orders.

According to Flipkart, lifestyle merchants on the marketplace had a 10X increase in orders placed compared to the pre-festive period, followed by furniture and electronics, which saw an 8X and 7X increase, respectively.

The annual sale event attracts more than 1.4 million sellers.
