Deloitte to launch Asia Pacific centre of excellence for sustainability & climate in India

Deloitte is opening its Asia Pacific CoE (Center of Excellence) for Sustainability & Climate in India to expedite work on developing sustainability and climate concerns. The CoE is part of the company’s global efforts to assemble one of the largest global networks of sustainability experience, including client-related services, data-driven research, sustainability and climate technology, tools, and capabilities, and is built on decades of sustainability and climate client service.

“This CoE is designed to foster innovation and cross-functional synergy among experts from various fields and academia, consolidating Deloitte’s commitment to delivering comprehensive and pioneering solutions to address the challenges of a rapidly changing world,” said Viral Thakker, Partner and Sustainability Leader, Deloitte India. It will serve as a focal point for a wide range of skills and knowledge in the constantly evolving fields of sustainability, climate, and ESG. It will act as a catalyst for the development of new, multidimensional solutions that will promote end-to-end transformation for organizations as they make the transition to a more sustainable and resilient future.”

Deloitte is establishing an Energy Chair Professorship for collaboration and innovation in the renewable energy field, led by Soumitra Satapathi. Knowledge sessions will also be held in accordance with a mutually agreed-upon schedule.

Deloitte has also collaborated with IIT Roorkee to create a link between industry and academia by selecting relevant research and designing focused courses for skill development. “The collaboration with IIT Roorkee will play a strategic role in fostering interdisciplinary coordination, nurturing talent, and advancing research initiatives to build an ecosystem that solves for challenges posed by climate change and social inequity,” Thakker said.

While situated in India, the CoE will provide support to clients and organizations throughout Asia Pacific, including India. BRSR Core-related data, analytics, and disclosure services would be one of the solutions for Indian organizations.
