Bored Ape Yacht Club movie trilogy announcement

The most valuable Non-Fungible Token collection to date, the Bored Ape Yacht Club, is getting its own film trilogy, thanks to bitcoin exchange Coinbase.

The first of three instalments of the animated short film series, dubbed “The Degen Trilogy,” will premiere at NFT.NYC in June, including plot contributions from both apes and non-apes in the NFT community.

Owners of the Bored Apes Yacht Club NFT are also welcome to submit their apes for consideration as characters in the trilogy, along with fictional character profiles that the casting director will investigate.

The movies will be “wallet-gated” on the Coinbase website after they are released, according to Coinbase. This means that before they can watch the video, they must first create a Coinbase wallet.

It’s worth noting that Yuga Labs, the company behind the NFT collectible series, isn’t involved in the film’s creation in any way.

The NFT collection previously made headlines when it introduced its own token, ApeCoin. Binance, Coinbase, FTX, Huobi, OKX, and Kraken all listed the cryptocurrency. Surprisingly, the token’s value plummeted by more than 80% once it was listed.

The apes from the Bored Ape Yacht Club have already been depicted outside of the BAYC habitat. Universal Music Group (UMG) is forming a band around Bored Ape NFT, which was just bought. Also on April 9, a BAYC-themed restaurant in California opened, accepting ApeCoin, the BAYC ecosystem’s native token, as a form of payment.
