BALCO empowers youth through skill development
BALCO empowers youth – Balconagar, January 11, 2022: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic Aluminium producer, is contributing resolutely towards the development of the nation by empowering the youth of the region through its skill development centre, ‘Vedanta Skill School’. The Vedanta Skill School is a one-of-its-kind institute of skills that provide technical education to the local youth to prepare them for a vocation that allows them to become financially self-reliant and foster the development of society at large. The institute imparts free residential training in six trades of food & beverages, welding, sewing machine operator, solar PV technician, electrician and fitter along with further helping the trainees with placements in companies of repute. The 45 to 65 days training programme is designed as per the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) guidelines and over 9000 students have been trained till now.
Sharing his views regarding the importance of youth in nation-building, Mr Abhijit Pati, CEO and Director, BALCO, says, “Empowered youth plays a pivotal role in bringing about the development of the nation to a great extent. BALCO is undertaking sincere efforts to groom young talents through its different flagship programmes like Project Connect, which aims at educating the school students in the vicinity through regular academic classes by our employees. The skilled school is a novel initiative to foster skill development among the youth and help them in availing various opportunities, thus paving way for their growth and progress.”
Sharing his experience, Punesh Darvesh, a trainee, says, “Enrolling in skill school has been one of the best decisions of my life. I had joined the training programme in the food & beverages programme which has helped me to avail jobs in different hospitality firms. Today I am proud to support my family financially and to share responsibilities with my father.”
Indu Pakwasa, another trainee, says, “I feel fortunate to be a student of skill school as it has played a significant role in bringing a positive change in my life by aiding my journey towards self-dependence.”
BALCO is poised to impact society in a positive manner with all its endeavours to strengthen the youth in the vicinity, thus enabling them to contribute to nation-building.
