BALCO declared Platinum Winner at CII National Safety Practices Competition for Suraksha Sankalpa Kutumba Project
Balconagar, May 4, 2022: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer, has been declared as the ‘Platinum Winner’ at the 5th CII National Safety Practices Competition for its Project Suraksha Sankalpa Kutumba.
The contest was organized this year based on the theme: ‘Excellence in workplace safety’ which required the participants to present safety practices implemented by them and the resulting significant improvement of safety performance and culture at the workplace.
BALCO’s Project Suraksha Sankalpa Kutumba is an umbrella project consisting of five safety digitalization integrated modules aiming at enhancement of safety leading indicators and building high safety culture. The five modules included are Augmented /Virtual/Mixed Reality Training Centre, Artificial Intelligence based Video Analytics, Sustainability Mobile App, E- learning course on Safety Modules for Competency Building and Connected Workforce aimed at skill development, auto detection of unsafe acts and conditions, driving digital safety culture & safety interactions, work force safety productivity improvement and tracking of red zones.

In order to ensure best-in-class safety standards, BALCO has partnered with DuPont Sustainability Solutions to implement their industry-leading safety management solutions at site. Recently the company won National Safety Awards (Mines) for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019. The company has rolled out several initiatives and institutionalized best practices to bolster safety performance, such as ‘Suraksha Sankalp’, a safety meet on first day of every month to sensitize the workforce on various modules of safety.
