Analysts say 5G will drive advancement
5G will drive advancement – Market analysts predicted on Wednesday that the eagerly anticipated 5G spectrum auction will result in considerable improvements for the market and consumers, however some believed that the basic price for the spectrum was still problematic for bidders who had anticipated considerably lower prices.
Peeyush Vaish, Partner and Telecom Sector Leader, Deloitte India, stated that the 5G auction and the procedures laid out for bidding will open up novel options for greater penetration, access, and rich user experience.
In addition to helping to unlock the full potential of 5G, the government has also announced an auction of the millimeter-wave (mm-wave) band, which will also assist in the operators’ cost management efforts strategically.
For the 5G auctions, the roads are now open. According to Vaish, this is likely one of the most anticipated spectrum auctions because it will result in significant improvements for the market and consumers. The good news is that spectrum across bands will soon be put up for auction.
5G will drive advancement
The broad availability of spectrum across all bands, according to Jaideep Ghosh, Chief Operating Officer of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, is positive since prospective bidders can choose the bands and quantity in accordance with their strategy. However, Ghosh continued, “the base rates for spectrum continue to be a problem for the bidders who were anticipating a much lower price.”
The analyst comments followed the Union Cabinet’s approval of the sale of airwaves for fifth-generation or 5G telecom services, including extremely fast internet, and its approval of the establishment of captive 5G networks by the major tech companies.
An official statement describing the decision made by the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during its meeting on June 14 stated that the auction for the spectrum above 72 GHz will take place by the end of July.
On July 26, 2022, the spectrum auction will start.
