Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material division of the diversified Adani Group, has successfully refurbished the village’s pond system as part of its CSR commitment to solve protracted water scarcity in Kherwad hamlet, guaranteeing locals have access to water all year round.
Kherwad, a small village in Didiya Kala Gram Panchayat in Jayal Block in Naguar district with a population of 939 people and 161 houses, has long struggled with its six ponds. Water exhaustion was previously caused by encroachment and a weak catchment area in just a few months.

Ambuja Cements and the villagers worked together to excavate and expand the pond’s storage capacity. Critical repairs were made to the catchment region, and soil slits excavated during the excavation were repurposed to benefit the agricultural fields.
The project’s success is undeniable. Kherwad’s redesigned pond system now maintains water all year and is water-sufficient. Ambuja Cements, in its transformational path of community development through CSR, continues to establish self-sufficient communities by ensuring that critical resources like as water are accessible to all.
