AI chatbots like ChatGPT to have human-like teaching capabilities
While many are concerned about the potential risks of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Microsoft Bing AI chatbots, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is bullish about the technology’s future. Gates believes that AI chatbots will become strong teaching tools that will help youngsters read and write in just 18 months. According to Gates, this will level the playing field for all children by providing materials that they did not previously have access to.

Gates claimed at a recent ASU+GSV event that these AI chatbots will be as competent as human educators. “The AI’s will get to that ability, to be as good a tutor as any human ever could,” he said.

“At first, we’ll be astounded by how it aids in reading — becoming a reading research assistant — and providing comments on writing. If you merely take the following 18 months, the AIs will act as a teacher’s helper and provide writing comments. “And then they’ll amp up what we can do in math,” he continued.
Back in March, Gates wrote a blog post titled “The Age of AI Has Begun,” in which he discussed AI’s transformative potential. In this blog post, Gates also emphasized the potential application of AI for education.
He believes that artificial intelligence will change the way humans educate and learn in the future. According to Gates, the chatbots will recognize users’ learning habits so that they may personalize information to keep them interested. It will not only assess users’ comprehension but will also identify the type of incentive they react to.
Gates believes that, while AI chatbots will be useful in the education sector, they will never be able to replace the work that students and instructors perform in the classroom. AI tools will be produced.
