ACC, the cement and building material subsidiary of the diversified Adani Group, has reached a water scarcity milestone in Dhakori village, Wani Taluka, Yavatmal District, by efficiently combating it. ACC, in collaboration with the Adani Foundation, has enabled sustainable irrigation solutions for local farmers, hence improving the region’s overall water conservation efforts. Because lift irrigation schemes (LIS) are one of the most effective ways to produce water for drinking and irrigation, many places are implementing them to address the rural water issue.
While the construction of LIS led in the irrigation of more than 100 acres of land, this project directly assisted over ten farming households in Dhakori village. Farmers may now plant a greater range of crops throughout the year, including cotton, soyabean, red gram, gram (chana), and vegetables, thanks to the LIS.
In fact, the Company’s achievement at Dhakori follows the successful construction of four LIS by ACC’s Chanda Cement Works in Usgaon and Paramdoh village over the last five years. The LIS program in Dhakori village was not only successful, but it also had a substantial influence on over 100 acres of fertile land. Prior to this program, the hamlet had various issues due to poor water conservation infrastructure, while receiving an average annual rainfall of 911.34 mm. Crop failures occurred during the kharif season as a result of these issues, posing job challenges for the community.

Cement Business CEO Ajay Kapur stated. “The completion of the Lift Irrigation Scheme in Dhakori village gives us a sense of accomplishment.” This project not only addresses the pressing issue of water scarcity, but it also improves the livelihoods of farming people. During an emergency, the village community can rely on this system for support. The obvious benefits in crop diversity, quality, and revenue demonstrate the transforming power of readily available water. The assistance of ACC has been critical in providing water to the Dhakori village population.”
Water availability is the most important factor impacting the success of any water resource-focused project. Recognizing its critical relevance, particularly in light of declining groundwater levels, which have a negative impact on ecosystems across the country, ACC and Adani Foundation have begun on a number of water resources projects as part of its CSR activities. It illustrates their dedication to addressing crucial challenges such as water scarcity and promoting sustainable development in the communities in which they operate.
